What are The Qualities of a Good Violin Lesson for Children?

A lot of parents make their children take violin lessons, just because they want their children to learn a musical instrument. They want their child to be good at something, and being good in music is one of the things that would make a child “perfect.” Having a “perfect” child means I’m a great parent. Having this kind of attitude, although fine, is not enough reason to enroll a child to music school. You should also consider other essential factors, like how much will my child enjoy the violin lessons? What will the lessons give him that will be of use to him in the future?
After answering these questions and thinking over the child’s welfare, it’s time to enroll your child to a violin music school. Although children will at first be hesitant about the suzuki violin lessons, he would warm up to the idea. There are certain things that would really make a good violin lesson for children.
First, the lessons have to be interactive and enjoyable. Children have notoriously short attention span, you therefore, need to liven up every lesson to make it more interesting and memorable for them. Interaction will give social maturity to your child and develop his communication skills. This is possible for both the classroom and the one-on-one arrangement. Just make sure that the student is communicating with other people. When you put these two together, the child will look forward to each lesson with excitement.
A violin lesson will not be complete without the perfect teacher. What use is having the talent when you can’t release it by being taught by a good teacher? The teacher should be approachable and likable to the students. But at the same time, he should know how to disciple them. The two attitudes may be in conflict, but with the right handling, will be very effective. The really good teachers are able to combine these two without any effort and still elicit respect and obedience from their students. Respect and obedience is best learned young, before their minds are corrupted by the sins of the world.
To have the violin lessons in bright and open room is more conducive to proper learning. A good location for the violin music school would be near the window or at least the room should have bright lights. This is more conductive to learning, since children will know they are being watched by the instructors.
Children naturally love rewards. To make it more exciting for them, have wonderful rewards for them after the lessons. It doesn’t need to be in money-wasting activities, because children are already happy with praises and hugs. Award the treats to them, after the end of every stressful lesson to brighten their mood and dispositions. And don’t forget to encourage them, so that they will be more inclined to learn.
As you can see, the makings of a good violin lesson don’t start and end in the classroom. The parents should attend the lessons with their children as much as possible to show support and encouragement. The lessons itself may be boring, but it can be made more interesting by the people around the child, like the parent, teacher, or the fellow students.
